Long-Stay Visa

Documents Required

Visa Application Form

• Completed and signed residence permit application for studies.

Passport

• Valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended stay.
• Issued within the last 10 years.
• Contains at least two blank pages.

UK Residency

• Provide a UK eVisa printout from UKVI with a valid share code.

Acceptance Letter

• Official admission letter from a Finnish educational institution.
• Must confirm course details, duration, and study location.

Proof of Finance

• Bank statements (last 3 months) showing sufficient funds for living expenses.
• Tuition fee payment receipt or scholarship confirmation.
• If financially supported by a parent or spouse:
  • Proof of relationship (birth or marriage certificate).
  • Sponsor’s bank statement and financial support declaration.

Proof of Travel

• Flight reservation or travel itinerary.

Proof of Accommodation

• Confirmation of student housing from the educational institution, OR
• Rental agreement for private accommodation, OR
• Sponsorship letter confirming accommodation arrangements.

Health Insurance

• Private insurance covering medical and pharmaceutical expenses.
• Must cover the entire stay in Finland.

Proof of Tuition Fee Payment

• Receipt or confirmation from the university (if applicable).

Internship or Exchange Program Documents (if applicable)

• If participating in an exchange program, provide an official acceptance letter from the program provider.
• If completing an internship as part of studies, provide an internship contract confirming the role and duration.

Mobility Notification for Students Already Holding an EU Residence Permit

• If the applicant holds a valid residence permit from another EU country and is coming to Finland under a mobility program, they must submit a mobility notification to the Finnish Immigration Service.
• The notification must be submitted before arriving in Finland and should include proof of enrollment, proof of residence in the first EU country, and a valid residence permit copy.

Documents for Minors (if under 18)

• Birth certificate.
• Parental consent letter (if traveling alone or with only one parent).
• Copies of parents’ passports.

Photo Specifications

Ensure your visa application photograph meets the following requirements:

• Recent & Quality: Taken within the last six months, high resolution, no marks or creases.
• Size & Composition: 35–40mm width, face covering 70–80% of the frame, sharp and clear.
• Expression & Eyes: Neutral expression, mouth closed, eyes fully visible, no hair over the face.
• Lighting & Background: Even lighting, no shadows, plain light-colored background.
• Headwear & Glasses: Head coverings allowed only for religious reasons, glasses must not obstruct eyes.
• Digital Standards: High-resolution, photo-quality print.

Avoid blurry images, red-eye effects, obstructed features, or overexposure. Non-compliant photos may result in delays or rejection.
