Intra-Corporate Transfer (ICT) Visa – Finland

Overview

The Intra-Corporate Transfer (ICT) Visa is a residence permit for non-EU nationals transferring within a company or a group of companies to work in Finland as a specialist, manager, or trainee.

  • Managers & Specialists can be granted a permit for up to three years.
  • Trainees can be granted a permit for one year.
  • Applicants must reside outside the EU when applying for their first ICT permit.

Fast-Track & D Visa Options

  • Specialists and managers can apply via the Fast-Track Service and receive their ICT residence permit within two weeks.
  • They may also apply for a D visa, allowing immediate travel to Finland once the residence permit is issued.

Who Can Apply?

You may apply for an ICT residence permit if:

  • You are transferred internally within a company or a group of companies to work in Finland.
  • You meet the qualifications for one of the following roles:
    • Manager: Holds a senior role directing the management of the host entity.
    • Specialist: Possesses specialised knowledge essential to the company’s activities.
    • Trainee Employee: Is transferred for career development or training purposes and receives a salary during the transfer.
  • Your salary meets Finland’s minimum wage requirements as per the collective agreement applied to your sector.

Documents Required

General Requirements

Visa Application Form

  • completed, dated, and signed residence permit application.

Passport

  • valid passport issued within the last 10 years.
  • Must be valid for at least three months beyond the intended stay.
  • Must contain at least two blank pages.

UK Residency

  • Provide a UK eVisa printout from UKVI with a valid share code.

Proof of Employment & Transfer

  • Employment contract from the home entity.
  • Secondment contract (assignment letter) detailing:
    • Job role & responsibilities.
    • Salary structure, including taxable fringe benefits.
    • Location of the host entity in Finland.
    • Collective agreement applied.
    • Duration of the transfer.
    • Confirmation of return to home entity after transfer.

Additional Documents for Specialists & Managers

  • Certificates of education & professional qualifications.
  • Employment history & experience verification (e.g., CV, reference letters).
  • Proof of company structure (organisation chart or statement proving home & host entities belong to the same group).

Additional Documents for Trainees

  • Certificate of an academic degree.
  • Traineeship contract with the host entity.

Proof of Accommodation

  • Rental agreement or proof of residence in Finland.

Proof of Travel

  • Flight reservation or travel itinerary.

Right to Work

  • ICT permit holders must primarily work in the role for which the permit was issued.
  • Working outside the scope of the issued permit is not allowed.
  • If applying for an extended permit, check whether you can continue working while the application is being processed.

Photo Specifications

Ensure your visa application photograph meets the following requirements:

  • Recent & Quality: Taken within the last six months, high resolution, no marks or creases.
  • Size & Composition35–40mm width, face covering 70–80% of the frame, sharp and clear.
  • Expression & Eyes: Neutral expression, mouth closed, eyes fully visible, no hair over the face.
  • Lighting & Background: Even lighting, no shadows, plain light-colored background.
  • Headwear & Glasses: Head coverings allowed only for religious reasons, glasses must not obstruct eyes.
  • Digital Standards: High-resolution, photo-quality print.

Avoid blurry images, red-eye effects, obstructed features, or overexposure. Non-compliant photos may result in delays or rejection.
