EEA/EU Family Visa

Documents Required

Visa Application Form

• Completed, signed, and dated Schengen visa application form.

Passport

• Must be valid for at least 3 months beyond the return date.
• Issued within the last 10 years.
• Must contain at least two blank pages.
• Passports with manual corrections or name amendments are not accepted.

Proof of the EU/EEA/Swiss Citizen’s Nationality

• Copy of the family member’s passport or national ID card.
• Original document must be shown at the time of application.

Proof of Traveling Together or Joining the EU/EEA/Swiss Family Member

• Evidence showing that the applicant is traveling with or joining their family member.
• Examples of proof:
  • Flight or travel reservations.
  • Hotel bookings.
  • Invitation letter from the EU/EEA/Swiss family member.

Proof of Family Relationship

• Marriage certificate, full birth certificate, or other official proof of family ties.
• If the EU/EEA/Swiss family member is Finnish:
  • Both the applicant and family member must have settled in the UK before 31.12.2020.
  • Proof of residence/employment in the UK before the Brexit transition period (e.g., address records, employment documents).

UK Residency

• Provide a UK eVisa printout from UKVI with a valid share code.

Additional Documents for Minors (Under 18)

• Birth certificate.
• If traveling without both parents, provide:
  • Written consent from the non-traveling parent(s)/guardian(s).
  • Copies of parent(s)/guardian(s) passports.
  • Proof of school enrollment (for UK-based minors).

Additional Notes

• Missing documents may result in visa refusal or processing delays.
• The Finnish Embassy may request additional documents or an interview.

Photo Specifications

Ensure your visa application photograph meets the following requirements:

• Recent & Quality: Taken within the last six months, high resolution, no marks or creases.
• Size & Composition: 35–40mm width, face covering 70–80% of the frame, sharp and clear.
• Expression & Eyes: Neutral expression, mouth closed, eyes fully visible, no hair over the face.
• Lighting & Background: Even lighting, no shadows, plain light-colored background.
• Headwear & Glasses: Head coverings allowed only for religious reasons, glasses must not obstruct eyes.
• Digital Standards: High-resolution, photo-quality print.

Avoid blurry images, red-eye effects, obstructed features, or overexposure. Non-compliant photos may result in delays or rejection.
